{"id":881,"date":"2018-05-17T17:19:54","date_gmt":"2018-05-17T17:19:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/demo.d5creation.com\/wp\/themes\/newspress\/?p=881"},"modified":"2019-12-29T00:55:59","modified_gmt":"2019-12-29T08:55:59","slug":"newspress-theme-is-e-commerce-ready-yes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/masihitv.com\/?p=881","title":{"rendered":"Police intervene to help Pakistani Christian attacked by Muslim mob after \u201cblasphemy\u201d charge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In a rare move, police stepped in to stop Muslims attacking&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.claas.org.uk\/news\/pakistani-christian-avoids-blasphemy-charge\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Amir Masih, a Christian sanitation worker<\/a>, in Yousafabad, Pakistan after he was falsely accused of \u201cblasphemy\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBlasphemy\u201d charges against Amir were dropped straight away when police discovered&nbsp;in their investigation that the pages of the Quran which Amir had in his possession had been found in a rubbish bag collected by him from local homes as part of his sanitation duties.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"img-full\" title=\"Christians in Pakistan often limited to low-status jobs such as cleaning sewers and other sanitary work (image for illustration purposes)\n\" src=\"https:\/\/barnabasfund.org\/sites\/default\/files\/images\/pakistan\/201911\/sanitation-worker-pakistan-4x3.jpg\" alt=\"Christians in Pakistan often limited to low-status jobs such as cleaning sewers and other sanitary work (image for illustration purposes)\n\"><figcaption>Many Christians in Pakistan are sanitation workers doing jobs such as cleaning sewers and other sanitary work (image for illustration purposes)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Amir had taken the pages to a Muslim-owned shop to confirm whether they were from the Quran, but was accused by the shop owner of being an \u201cunclean rubbish collector\u201d and dragged to a local mosque.<\/p>\n<p>The imam at the mosque made a loudspeaker announcement that \u201ca blasphemous Christian had been stopped\u201d, calling on other imams to punish Amir and burn local Christian homes,&nbsp;when police stepped in.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBlasphemy\u201d against Muhammad carries a mandatory death penalty under section 295-C of the Pakistan Penal Code and often the mere&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/barnabasfund.org\/en\/news\/eight-christian-prisoners-of-conscience-on-death-row-in-pakistan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">accusation of \u201cblasphemy\u201d<\/a>&nbsp;is enough to incite a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/barnabasfund.org\/en\/news\/Christian-couple-beaten-and-burned-alive-by-Muslim-mob-in-Pakistan-after-blasphemy-accusation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">vigilante killing<\/a>&nbsp;by a mob. Under section 295-B, \u201cwilful defilement, damage or desecration of the Quran\u201d carries a life sentence.
